For Today…October 9rd, 2009
Monday updates aren’t working so well with our current schedule – I find myself more contemplative on Friday/Saturday. So here I am. 🙂
Outside my window… the dusting of snow melted off, and the sky is crisp blue.
I am thinking… about whether I should take a nap or try to get some things done during naptime. I did get decent rest last night…
I am hearing… the girls giggling at each other in their room. I’ll give this activity about 10 more minutes before I go lay down the law. 🙂
From the learning rooms… We got to the library this week and came home with a few really good books. I always find it interesting that some books are SO good and some are SO dumb that I usually stop reading them halfway through and skip to a different one. Thankfully my kids don’t care too much yet. I was thinking this morning about starting a list of the library books we love so I can collect them from thrift stores, paperbackswap.com, etc.
Some highlights from the week…
Spending some time with my sister Holly, altering a HUGE thrift store shirt to be a cute maternity shirt. She’s a genius.
We had a meeting with the Wellspring Financial Hope Foundation crew, and things are ready to move forward with financial coaching! I’ll have to write a post sometime soon explaining more about this, probably after our website is up and running. If you are struggling to make ends meet and pay off debt, I hope you’ll consider seeking out this organization for help – it’s going to be amazing!
Baby shower tomorrow! Can’t wait to see our friends. 🙂
I am thankful for… hope that someday soon Nick might be done with this insane work schedule. For a healthy prenatal appointment, and getting to see our beautiful baby’s face on ultrasound – she looks sooo much like Hannah! For a husband who rubs my back and shoulders for me, even after long days. For God’s faithfulness to answer my questions and frustrations with truth. For a warm house, after spending the last two winters in a very drafty one. For the fact that the banking issue at Nick’s employer this week didn’t effect us at all.
From the kitchen… Squash was $0.79/pound at our health food store, so I stocked up on butternut, acorn, and spaghetti varieties. Yum. Food choices for Audrey in particular are still very limited. So far she doesn’t seem to mind, thankfully. I’m dreaming up a spaghetti squash with a ground chicken/chicken broth sauce-type-thing for dinner.
I am wearing… today? I am still in my pajamas. Yes, it’s 2:30. No, I don’t do that often. Pretty tired today…
I am reading… Picked up a new book called “Dancing to the Precipice” at the library the other night. It’s a biography of Lucie de la Tour du Pin, who was a historian of sorts, in France during Louis XVI’s reign. It is 436 pages long, which normally would not seem daunting to me, but at this point I’d guess I’m in for a couple of renewals before I finish it. 🙂
I am hoping… that Nick can get all his work hours in today so he can be home all day tomorrow. That the kids and I have a peaceful afternoon and evening. For a fun, restful weekend.
I am creating… the baby’s room…in my head at least! My parents have a dresser we can use. The crib can be set up as soon as Audrey has a twin bed or bunkbed. I want to buy some of those white letters to spell her name, and hang them on the wall with pink ribbon. I’ve decided against trying to paint with all the allergy stuff going on around here, but I’m hoping to make it cute with what we put in it instead. I’d love a soft rug. And stuff to organize the closet with. And I want to do this in both kids’ rooms. One thing at a time… 🙂
I am praying… constantly. 🙂
Around the house… nothing much to report here this week. Just trying to keep up with stuff as much as we can.
One of my favorite things… I am totally drooling over this recipe, and trying to decide if it’s worth making since Audrey can’t have any?
A few plans for the rest of the week… church, baby shower, lotsa work, lunch with the fam for my brother Ryan’s birthday
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you… OK, I need to either use this part to get better about taking pictures, or just take it out of here altogether. Since I need to take more pictures, I’m going to attempt the first option. We’ll see…
