Outside my window… blue sky and fluffy white clouds. My front lawn is greening up nicely.
I am thinking… about my sister and unborn nephew. They are 37 weeks and the baby’s still breech. She has tried everything I would try to turn him and he hasn’t turned. Praying for God’s guidance for them… They may try an external version on Friday.
I am hearing… Bolt playing downstairs, but the kids are upstairs playing dress up. Audrey’s been singing at the top of her lungs.
Some highlights from the week… Nick and I auditioned for the worship team at church on Saturday. With complete and utter humility, I have to say that I’m amazed I can still do that. It’s been years. And it sounded good. And I had fun. Now we wait to see how everything plays out.
Went to a jewelry party at a good friend’s house. Usually I hate those sales parties, but actually enjoyed watching the salesperson’s suggestions on how to layer necklaces, etc. Now I’ll go to Forever 21, buy similar pieces for $5/apiece and do the same stuff.
I am thankful for… knowing how to treat this stupid flu we’ve all had. Hannah has the cough right now. She’s pretty miserable, but I know she’ll be fine in a day or two.
From the kitchen… I can’t remember if I told you all this or not (stop me if you’ve heard this one-ha!), but I sold my extra water kefir grains this week. My blog friend Wardeh has a e-course that she developed, to teach people how to cook according to Nourishing Traditions principles. Part of this course uses kefir grains, and when I told her I had lots of extras, she offered to pass on the word to her e-course members (of which there are lots!). Sooo…Hannah, Audrey and I spent the morning boxing up 43 sets of water kefir grains to be sent out all over the country. Pretty cool! Not so cool is the stupid Paypal shipping tool that is amazingly and surprisingly hard to use. I messed it up and now have to wait two weeks for them to refund my mess-up. Oh well! Boxes are ready for pickup this afternoon, and the kiddos were actually a huge help. And BTW, if you’re interested in kefir grains, let me know. I’ll have more to sell shortly.
I am wearing… jeans and a white cotton top. Allow me a moment to whine – all my clothes are two sizes smaller than I currently am. I honestly have no problem whatsoever with the size I currently am, except that I have no clothes available. Do I buy a whole new wardrobe for this size, (as if that’s really an option) or simply hope I get back into the rest of my clothes within the next couple of months? I don’t know. I haven’t really lost much weight in the past two months…
I am reading…nothing this week. After two weeks + of sick kids, I’m pretty wiped out. Our weekend was very busy, and Nick’s been trying to get in extra hours at work. It’s been about all I can do to keep up with kids and cooking. We need a date night badly.
I am hoping… to hear good news about my Grampa in Southern CA. He has had multiple heart attacks in the past few days, and was scheduled for an angiogram at 1pm our time. He had a quad bypass several years ago and has been close to death multiple times since I was born. I hope he’ll pull through again. He’s 78.
One of my favorite things… Watching my baby chicks. They are so stinkin’ funny. I really enjoy taking care of them, even though it’s one more thing to do, just because I get to watch them and laugh.
A few plans for the rest of the week… the landlord is sending a handyman to fix some stuff in our house. Excited about having stuff fixed, HATE having men working in my house. We’ll probably leave as soon as he arrives.
Hopefully finally getting everyone well. I’m praying Nick avoids this thing altogether.
Everything else kinda depends on whether we get well or not.
We’re learning… Hannah and Audrey both got school activity books for Hannah’s birthday. We did a few things in them this week. I find that about 20 minutes of “book” work is plenty at this age. After that they begin to get frustrated and unmotivated.
The girls also helped me put together the boxes of water kefir. That was a neat project for them. I helped them set up an assembly line and we talked about what we could do to make it faster.
A picture thought I’m sharing…My baby chicks
